This book presents evidence that the ancient Cretans, Greeks, Etruscans and Romans originally came out of West Africa. The Greek Maenads can be traced to the Python cult in Dahomey where priests and priestesses nourish these snakes in cylindrical houses with a pointed straw roof. Pythons are also sacred among the Mossi and in Liberia. Snakes were associated with rain and the rainbow. We now have genetic evidence of an early African migration into Greece. The Roman funerary practice whereby masked figures impersonated their dead ancestors also has antecedents in Africa. The bulls of prehistoric Crete survive in Spanish bullfighting and the running of the bulls in Northern Italian towns. The Minotaur was an African sacrificial victim. Nigeria even has a town called Minna named after the African fertility goddess Minona.
